Kamoro Crocodile Man #7
All the items that are listed here are vintage from the 1980s so they are not in absolute MINT condition. They are second-hand and come with wear commensurate with age. Please refer to the photos for detailed item descriptions.
This is a hardwood (generally called ironwood) Kamoro carving from 1996 (purchased in 1989 in Timika, Papua, Indonesia).
This beautiful carving is 56 centimeters (22 inches) in length. The wood color is a light brown. The base is a head; the main body is a man holding a long object with a crocodile on his back taking a bit from his head. This figure is in excellent shape.
The Kamoro are neighbors of the Asmat and have just been developing their carving along with some tourist-oriented activities over the past twenty years or so. I'll have more on the Kamoro people later.
Price is 50 USD for overseas purchasers; 700,000 Indonesian Rupiah for purchase within Indonesia. Reasonable offers will be considered.
