Male+Female Holding Tools #17
All the items that are listed here are vintage from the 1980s so they are not in absolute MINT condition. They are second-hand and come with wear commensurate with age and having sat in the jungle for a long time. Please refer to the photos for detailed item descriptions.
This is a hardwood (generally called ironwood) drum from the late 1980s (purchased in 1989 in Agats, Papua, Indonesia). It is 47 centimeters (18.5 inches) in height; the male is taller than the female. The wood color is dark brown to black, the darkening is due to age and smoke. The male is holding an adze; the female is holding a paddle. They both have scarification marks on the body; some of which still have some white pigmentation. The male has a slight crack down the right side of his face that has been filled in with some substance. There is also a slight crack on the right wrist. Otherwise, this carving is in very good condition.
Price is USD 200 for overseas buyer or 2,800.000 Indonesian Rupiah for buyers who are in Indonesia . Reasonable offers will be considered.
